Ice skating

Just when you think that the weather is going to turn around…. it turns into something ugly. 2 Days ago temperatures went just over zero. Meaning a lot of snow and ice started melting. It even rained for a few hours. And then is when it turned into hell. Actually hell froze over. This morning it was -14 again. And all this means that town turned into the world’s biggest ice skating ring.  Just have a look at this on my way home from work yesterday afternoon.

People are not lifting their feet when they walk, they slide around. The safest way I noticed myself.

Slope

Nursery slope style hill in the area. About 5 minute walk when Milla or Zeb are sitting in their sledge. We went there the other day after we tried a little gentler slope the day before. Now Milla only wants to go faster and faster.

Rooftops

White roofs from the office

Just when you think it stopped snowing and it will all turn into grey water soon, we get another load of white fluffiness dumped on our head. Not that I complain. It seems like it’s gonna be a never-ending story this winter.

This one is from this morning when I was in the office looking out. We got moved a few floors up, so wee enjoy a better view from this part of town. And when I took this, it was like somebody was shaking out their pillows. Nice thick white snowflakes, could have been better if you ask me. The only bad thing about this all is that I have to be inside and am not allowed to go outside and play like a kid … Maybe another time.

White

It’s still freezing cold out there. Why ? It’s so cold I have been taking the tram to work. Don’t mind me, I can watch a bit of TV shows on my iPhone, or read some books. That’s all good.

But too cold to ride my bike to where my I ruining my pants these days. I don’t even get warmed up properly before I get there. And that means some extra coffee or tea to get warmed up once inside the belly of the beast. And that means too much bladderpressure, …. Too much detail.

On the positive side, all that white fluffy stuff is still lying around out there. Since CHRISTMAS !!! Never seen this before in my 10 years in Sweden. So nowI am just waiting for Milla to say that when she was younger, there was always loads of snow in the winter and it always lasted very long before it all melted away. I know that’s how it was for me.

Finally

It finally arrived. Who knows, maybe it will last a few days and we will have a white Christmas. Something that hasn’t happened since I was a kid, I think…

And besides that, it’s my first day off from work. Another “finally”. I have been longing for this one. Too many long days without the family. And that is never a good thing. So now I have at least 3 weeks to spend some quality time together !!!

What a weekend

It was time to visit Linda’s parents again. Milla had been asking us a few times the last couple of weeks to go and visit her grandparents. We haven’t had the time yet, so now we had… We had to go. And it’s always nice to get a change of scenery.

Zeb was about to fall asleep and I didn’t know if I should go out for a walk with him or stay in. When I got outside, put him in the push-chair and walked around for 5 minutes, I realised it was too cold for me. I checked… 1 digit temperatures. Not yet, please…. Can you wait a minute or 2 with those cold and windy days ? We have 6 months of this ahead of us. Just wait, please….

But nobody listened, so I stayed inside. Looked at the sky and saw this:

So I grabbed my camera and took a few shots. 5 minutes later the colors were gone. It was all back to white and grey.

I don’t know why it colored like that, but it was nice. And weird too. But I am glad I captured it.

It snowed !!!

Not that you really can see that in this picture here, but still. This is how it looked on the street around the corner:

Winter Street

Most of it was gone already by lunchtime. But Milla and I went out for a walk and had some fun. Last winter she didn’t really get the concept of snow, but this year, all she wanted to do was throwing snowballs at me.

Snowy Morning

So went to “The Forest”. A small patch next to a playground with some trees on it. Nothing I would call a forest, but in a kid’s world it’s huge !!!!

The White Forest

Use your imagination and you’ll have hours of fun there. Now the snow is gone, but it is supposed to snow more this week. Hopefully a bit more than yesterday. But more than that we hope for it to stay a little bit longer than just a couple of hours…
