American Breakfast

Pancakes that is I believe. Milla was going on “field trip” with daycare. Meaning, they were going out with a boat to one of the islands on the coast here. Not a big thing, really, since the group she is in does that quite often. But because she just joined the older group since after the summer holiday…. A BIG thing for her !!!

And that means that they will be gone for the whole day, and so have to bring their own lunch bag. Milla knew this since last week, so she has been asking us the whole time if she could have pancakes with her. “No problem”, we said. So I decided to make pancakes for breakfast for us all this morning.

Not really my thing (I even skipped), but the rest seemed to be very happy. I do like them, but just not for breakfast. And if I do like them…. it’s a recipe I finally figured out so it tastes exactly they way I remember from when I was a little kid. My mom would take me out on a saturday shopping in Genk sometimes. And then we would eat some pancakes after a while… with hot chocolate, or sugar on it. They were the best !!!

And I finally figured out how to make them. This is what you need for 4 people:

  • 3 eggs
  • 1,5 dl flower
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1,5 dl water
  • 2,5 dl milk
  • tiny bit salt (between 2 fingers)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Mix it all together, let it stand for 5 minutes. Meanwhile heat a frying pan. Really hot, so it goes fast. Believe me, they will eat faster than what you can make. And no butter or oil in the pan !!!!

Bon appétit….
