JFokus 2020 is in Stockholm. 3 Days of conferencing and listening to the latest and hottest topics in the Java world. The question is always how much of it can we implement at work?

Trams or subways in Sweden look more like busses with their seatings. This layout, with the seats opposite each other and lots of open space, we only see in movies.

Oh boy, oh boy. That was not a good night’s sleep. When I got my hotelroom, I could hear the cars and train outside. “Oh nice, I can open a window.”, I thought. Not thinking more about it, I just dropped off my gear and went down to the restaurant for a meal. We were quite hungry after almost 11 hours on the go and just a few snacks here and there. But what a surprise when I got back to the room and wanted to close the windows….. There was no window open!!! And I had the highway just outside about 50 metres away. The other side of the building has a view like the photo above. Apparently no noise, me colleague said. Better check stuff like this next time. And at the rate this is going it will be in another 3 years.

It was time for 2 days of HCL DX in Milan. Lufthansa on the way down and Brussels Airlines on the way back. Flying down on a Tuesday evening and back on Thursday evening. The only problem I see with our schedule is the 30 minutes window in Brussels to get out of a plane and jump on the next one. Wondering how Italy is as well.

Another one from the Austria days. Blues skies, big mountians, good friends, loads of time. What else can you ask for?

Last week…. The boys and I drove down to Austria. To go riding our MTBs. The.Best.Thing.Ever!!!!

This is your typical shot of the day. Mountains looming in the distance all around you. Gondolas to get quickly to the top and just all day long riding down.

I think it was a Christmas present from Linda’s sister. Tickets to a Swedish House Mafia reunion tour in Stockholm. And surprise, surprise … it was better than I expected. The only thing is that you notice the band is a bit tired of playing their most famous songs. So they cane up with new versions of it. More visual and sound art than EDM. Which made the crowd just relax instead of keeping on dancing. Weird feeling. But an unforgettable weekend!
