I shouldn’t
But I did it anyway. I know I shouldn’t because I will get sucked into it.
What is he talking about ? Well….. another TV show. It’s my weak point I think. I like movies and TV shows too much. I know, because I watched loads of them in the last couple of years. And now, I fell into Dexter’s trap. Not my fault I would like to tell you, but that is not true. I got the recommendation a month or 2 ago from somebody. We started talking about movies and tv shows and I realised he liked the same movies as I did. Not always the same shows, but he said Dexter was the best he had seen so far in his live.
So I went and started with season 1. And before I knew I watched it all. Season 2 followed. And then season 3 and 4 of course. Scary how quick I went through it all. To my defence I can say that a Dexter season is only 12 episodes and not 22 or 24 like other US shows that roam our TV screens. And after watching all this, I have to say it certainly comes in my top 5 of best TV shows. It is sickening how one can feel for a serial killer and think he is doing a good deed. Somehow they managed to make you feel sorry for the main character. And you hope it will get better for him. It doesn’t feel like he is a murderer.
And that is maybe something to worry about. Is that where our future is heading to ? Take justice in your own hands and make it look OK to do it ? Now I am getting scared…
Kiki
I watched “Kiki’s Delivery Service” yesterday. A movie by the Manga master Hayao Miyazaki. It’s already an old one (released in 1989) but I have never seen it before. And I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The whole movie is a bit slow. I guess the target audience is not 35 year olds but more somewhere between 5 and 15.
And then there is something with the language. I watched it in Japanese, subtitled in Swedish. But it just doesn’t feel right in Japanese. The settings and time-frame is a bit off for that. I watched loads of those movies when I was younger, most of them dubbed in Dutch or German. Later on in life I could watch them on the French channels as well. So this one would for me make more sense in French. I have no idea how early or mid 1900 Japan looked like, but he is clearly depicting a European town. So Japanese just doesn’t fit for me. It’s like watching a hollywood movie dubbed in Turkish or so. It’s just weird.
But no more complaining, we’re off to the next one in Mr. Miyazaki’s repertoire. Maybe “Spirited Away”…
Superbowl
I don’t usually post this kind of stuff here. But now I do. Superbowl…. every year I have the intension to watch it, but it just never happens.
But imagine a Superwbowl edited in a Lynch style ….
Watchmen
I finally got round to watch Watchmen. I had never heard about the comic book. Even at the time when the only thing I did was reding comic books. But that maybe has to do with the lack of internet at that time.
Anyhow, I was pleasantly surprised. Nice atmosphere, good filming (I really liked the slo-mo shots) and a story line that is typical for this kind of movie/comic book. Even for a 2,5 hour movie it never was boring or going to slow.
My favorite character ? “Walter Kovacs / Rorschach” I guess. Not just because he is the storyteller, but the most mysterious one as well….. I think.
